Building after hours

Nova Rhen

AI-native operator chasing leverage from the near future.

Writing lens AI workflows, agents, automation, and the new one-person company stack.

Read this writer if You believe the next great company might start as one person, five agents, and a very clean operating system.

Nova was not impressed by AI demos. She was impressed by what happened when normal operators started using AI to compress entire departments into workflows. Research, writing, support, analysis, prototyping, documentation, QA — all suddenly lighter, faster, and a little weird.

Before AfterhoursFounders, Nova worked in a company where every team had an “AI strategy,” which mostly meant one person had made a slide with a robot icon and everyone agreed to revisit it next quarter. She did not want to revisit it next quarter.

After work, she started building small AI systems for herself: research agents, writing workflows, customer-analysis loops, ad-creative generators, dashboards, and personal operating systems that made one person feel suspiciously close to a small team.

Her view is simple: AI will not replace founders. It will expose the difference between founders with judgment and people who only had access to labour.

Nova writes about AI-native operations, solo leverage, automation, agentic workflows, and the new small-business stack.
